Coach Dave's Double Channel Swim
Dave Cameron has been involved with swimming at the YWCA since 2001. He is the Head Coach for the Otters youth swim team and the Head Coach for the Masters adult swim group. Dave also provides private coaching to novice and marathon swimmers and works with many triathletes. In late 2006, Dave made the decision to begin training for a double channel swim. In taking on a challenge of that magnitude, Dave knew his swim had to have a purpose, and his love of the swimming programs at th e YWCA lead him to dedicate his training to the mission of the YWCA. From that, the YWCA Channel Challenge and the Swim for Change campaign were born. The YWCA would like to thank Dave for his leadership in selecting and coaching the Masters and Otters relay teams. His commitment, dedication and motivation, ensured that the YWCA Channel Challenge and Swim for Change campaign were a success. |
Congratulations to Coach Dave Cameron for successfully completing another solo English Channel swim! On August 7, Dave completed a solo swim of the English Channel in 12 hours and 36 minutes - 33 minutes faster than his first Channel swim in 2004. Dave had originally set out to swim a Double Channel crossing, but called off the return swim from France to England due to shoulder pain.
