Asian Youth

Asian Youth Program (AYP) is an after school tutoring program that positions Asian college students as tutors to Asian elementary youth. The tutors not only help students with direct academic support; they are also able to relate to their lifestyles and help serve as role models. In addition to the tutoring element, field trips are held to encourage group cohesion and provide safe, fun recreation

ALL THAT (Asian Life Lessons: Teaching, Helping Advocating Team) works in Minneapolis public schools with middle school Asian boys and girls. The program focuses on developing skills for conflict resolution and positive, peaceful methods of belonging; improved family support; improved attendance and cultural appreciation and awareness. ALL THAT groups provide constructive interactive activities in a safe and fun environment. These hands-on activities are implemented to help the participants develop skills needed to deal with everyday issues and build positive relationship between the counselor and the participant. The success of the program comes not only from the participants' involvement, but also from excellent ongoing communication and support between counselors, families and school staff.

These programs operate primarily in Minneapolis Public Schools. For more information, contact 612-215-4369.
