Strong, Fast, Fit

Strong Fast Fit Youth is a 12-month health and fitness program for Latino and Native American youth and their families. The program specifically focuses on reducing childhood obesity and type II diabetes rates in these communities. Youth meet twice a week for fun classes designed to develop fitness and nutrition habits that support healthy weight and life-long wellness.

Our youth are more successful when healthy lifestyles are a family affair. That's why parents, caregivers and other family members also take part in family fitness events, attend adult cooking and nutrition classes, and regularly use YWCA fitness facilities.

Great Results for Strong Fast Fit

  • 120 youth attend high-quality programming that supports every young person in achieving 2-4 hours of vigorous physical activity a week.
  • Each year more than 70% of youth achieve measurable improvements to body weight, body composition, or cardiovascular health.
  • In 2008 every youth in the program took part in extensive running training with the goal of participating in the Twin Cities Marathon Youth Fitness events (TC 5K and Diana Pierce Family Mile); 69 youth and 23 parents & caregivers took part and 100% of youth and adults completed their event!
