Understanding Privilege Workshops
Understanding one's own biases, prejudices, and stereotypes is the catalyst for change and self-actualization. Creating this understanding is a lifelong endeavor, and the Understanding Privilege Workshop is a place to begin or continue your journey.
The vision for the Understanding Privilege Workshop is to bring groups together to share knowledge, thoughts, information, and beliefs on the broad spectrum of race relations, with particular focus on white privilege in America. Participants are encouraged to do something with the knowledge gained from the workshop and create greater awareness via your day-to-day work.
Understanding Privilege Workshops focuses on dialogue: dialogue in dyads, dialogue in small circles, dialogue in large circles. In both Part I and Part II of the workshop, information will be shared and discussed; understanding will increase; commitment to action will be articulated; change on both a personal and an institutional level will be planned in the context of the question: How will you know that you are succeeding and making a difference?
