Leadership Registry
The YWCA of Minneapolis and MAP for Nonprofits are announcing that the Leadership Registry, which recruits women and people of color for placement on boards of local non-profit organizations, is evolving into a new phase of implementation. This fall the Leadership Registry will be integrated into the ongoing board recruitment services of MAP for Nonprofits and the name 'Leadership Registry' will be retired.
MAP for Nonprofits' mission is to provide critical management consulting services that significantly enhance the abilities of nonprofit organizations to increase their community impact. MAP for Nonprofits has been a partner in Leadership Registry since it began, providing expertise on matching potential board members from the registry with organizations seeking to diversify membership on their boards. Integrating the registry into MAP for Nonprofits' ongoing work provides more potential placement opportunities for diverse candidates, women and people of color on the boards of the organizations who work with MAP.
Since 1979, MAP has provided quality management consulting and board recruitment services to thousands of nonprofit groups. MAP primarily works with nonprofit organizations in the Greater Twin Cities Metropolitan Area of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. MAP will carry on Leadership Registry's mission of recruiting and placing women and people of color onto non-profit boards so that the boards more accurately reflect the community and individuals being served by the organization.
The integration of the Leadership Registry into MAP's board recruitment program coincides with a previously-planned MAP program expansion. Already in the works are a new program name, Best on Board, a new customer satisfaction guarantee and hiring additional program staff. Leadership Registry board candidates will be welcomed to MAP's pool of potential candidates. MAP also looks forward to fulfilling the Leadership Registry's commitment to existing nonprofit organizations waiting for board matches.
The YWCA of Minneapolis will continue to refer potential board candidates and non-profit organizations in the community to MAP. In addition, organizations working with MAP will be encouraged to access YWCA Unlearning Racism Workshops, Understanding Privilege Workshops, and Board Development Dialogues by way of a discounted rate.
The YWCA of Minneapolis and MAP for Nonprofits thanks the funders who believe in the vision of the Leadership Registry and supported its development and implementation over the past three years. Specifically The Minneapolis Foundation, the Women's Foundation of Minnesota, the Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation, the Irwin Porter Foundation and the Elmer & Eleanor Andersen Foundation.
