Reimbursement Information
Your reimbursement will occur two months after the month of participation. If you are a debit member, the reimbursement will not show up as a credit on your bank statement. Rather your monthly membership fees will be reduced to reflect the credit. If you miss a month, your future reimbursements will follow this same schedule.
For example, if you complete 12 workouts in July, the reimbursement for July will be applied in September and your September bank draft will be reduced by $20. Likewise, if you do not complete 12 workouts in August, your October bank draft will not have the $20 reimbursement applied, and should reflect your normal membership fee.
If you are a paid-in-full member, your monthly reimbursement will show up as a credit on your membership account. Upon the renewal of your membership you can apply these credits towards the total amount due. In the event you decide to terminate your membership, a check will be issued for any remaining credit balances.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the YWCA need my Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota member number?
The YWCA is required by Blue Cross to report your name, ID number, and the number of times you visited the facility each month.
How many times do I have to work out a month?
Consistency is the key! To get the most benefit from your workouts it's necessary to exercise regularly.
To be eligible for the reimbursement you must work out 12 days per month. Be sure to check in at the front desk every time you work out to ensure an accurate count of your workouts. (A maximum of one workout per day is counted.)
I have a family or a dual membership. How will the workouts be counted?
Up to two eligible adult Blue Cross & Blue Shield members that meet the criteria are eligible for the reimbursement. Your
workouts will be counted toward your member number, and your spouse or other adult family member's workouts will be
counted toward his or her member number. Each individual must work out 12 days per month to receive his or her reimbursement. (Maximum reimbursement per household is $40.00 per month.) Note: Only two people on every membership can be enrolled in the program, even if more than two are eligible. The 2 participants must be designated upon enrollment by the main member.
If I workout at another YWCA of Minneapolis, will those workouts be counted towards my monthly total?
Yes, you may work out at any of the YWCA's three health and fitness locations. Be sure to check in at the membership desk,
and your workout will be counted.
What if I terminate my YWCA membership or cease to be a Blue Cross member? Will I get reimbursed
for the most recent month, even if I'm no longer a member at the time of reimbursement?
Because you need to be a current member of the YWCA when the credit is applied, upon termination of your membership, any unapplied reimbursements will be forfeited.
Am I eligible for this program even if I am already a member of the YWCA?
Yes! Current members need to fill out an enrollment form so we can obtain up-to-date information to ensure you receive your
reimbursement. Be sure to let the YWCA know that you're a Blue Cross member.
What date during the month is the best time to sign up?
To make it easier to accomplish 12 workouts, it's best to sign up for the program as early in the month as possible.
If you sign up late in the month, you'll have fewer days in which to get in your 12 workouts for that month.
If I miss one or two workouts one month, can I make them up the next
month and still get reimbursed for the month I fell short?
No, you cannot make up workouts for the previous month.
