Women's Wellness

The Women's Wellness program exists to nourish the mind, body and spirit of low income women and girls and to help them identify and create positive change in themselves that lead to healthier families, communities and world systems.

Program Structure

Health & Fitness Membership
All Women's Wellness program participants will have a full YWCA Health & Fitness membership. This membership will allow access to all three YWCA fitness centers which includes all group fitness classes, gym, pool and equipment. Participants will be supported and encouraged to take full advantage of the membership. The monthly cost of the membership will be based on the participant's income.

Journey to Wellness
In conjunction with the fitness membership, program participants will follow a four-step Journey to Wellness:

  1. Orientation: Everyone will be required to attend the Women's Wellness program orientation session which will be offered monthly. The orientation will include, program description, participant expectations, participant contract and scholarship application support.
    »See Orientation Session Schedule.
  2. Jumpstart: Once participants have completed all required paper work, they will start the twelve week health education classes; these groups will be starting once a month. The health and education classes will also provide participants with a fitness center overview including a building tour and equipment demonstration.
    »See Jumpstart Class Schedule.
  3. Motion: At the end of the twelve week health and education class, participant's obligation and support shifts. Participants will be required to attend quarterly information sessions but will continue fitness access on their own; Staff will be available through the quarterly meetings as well as "check and connect" gatherings.
  4. Transition: After one year, participants will be supported to maintain their YWCA scholarship membership or to move into our community based classes.
