Laurel Murdock is vice president of Health and Wellness at YWCA Minneapolis. She is responsible for the leadership and strategy of Health and Wellness programming along with facility operations for YWCA’s three fitness locations.
Laurel assumed the role in July 2022 after previously holding multiple program and leadership positions for YWCA Minneapolis. Her career spans 15+ years of experience in the nonprofit health and wellness field, including membership and program development and operations management. Laurel is a cause-driven, energetic and proven leader with a passion for health and wellness and a mission to positively inspire others. Known for her capabilities in strategic management, relationship development and system design, she believes in addressing issues and problems ethically, critically and creatively.
Laurel holds a B.A. in Global Studies from California State University, Monterey Bay and is a Yoga Alliance certified Yoga instructor. She is a passionate, engaged citizen interested in the critical analysis of complex and interdependent global systems, social structures and social identities. And how ethnicity, race, class, gender, sexuality and ability intersect to shape our lives, our experiences, our opportunities and our challenges. She enjoys running, backpacking, traveling, Lego’s, comic books, rescue animals, all San Francisco sports teams and spending time with her family.
