Intersectionality has become a buzzword when talking about diversity and inclusion practices. This workshop breaks down the meaning of intersectionality and the importance of this concept in the work of diversity and inclusion. This workshop examines the roles of power and identity and how they contribute to one’s experience of marginalization and oppression.

  • Understand the term intersectionality
  • Know how identity and power interact
  • Learn ways to be aware of one’s own identity and privilege

This is a 100-level workshop. 100-level workshops are designed to offer an interactive space for participants to learn about race, power, privilege and identity. These workshops are a great way to reinforce key learnings in your racial justice journey, or build a foundation of common vocabulary and understanding for a workplace or community. Workshops are designed to complement each other and zlisted in suggested order of progression, however, each may be taken on its own as well.

Note: This is not a webinar. Participants will be expected to be engaged in large and small group conversations, and are asked to stay for the full 90-minute duration of the workshop. Please plan to arrive on time. The access link will be sent via email ONE HOUR before the event.

There are scholarships available for this workshop! Fill out this form to apply.
