What is your favorite workout and why?

1000 meter intervals on a track or trail. You have to hold on a little longer than a 400 meter or 800 meter race to keep up the pace, pushing your mental and physical game even further. 

What do you consider your greatest fitness accomplishment?

It's a tie between finishing the CITYTRAIL Loppet 10 Mile and swimming the Lee River in Cork, Ireland. Both were unique experiences which challenged me in different ways from road-racing or swim meets. I can’t wait to do a trail race or open water swim again!

What is your biggest athletic goal?

I want to run the Boston Marathon with my dad, or at least have him cheer me on to the finish line. My own running career really got underway while he was training to qualify in 2007. 

What is your biggest goal outside of the gym?

To be remembered for more than my identity as an athlete – I want to be known for the work I’ve done, my commitment to social justice, for my faith and loyalty to family and friends.

What do you do on your rest days?

Coffee and chats with friends and exploring the lakes and parks. Lake Nokomis is my favorite.
