Registration is now closed. Thank you!

Racism is a public health crisis.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that racism, both structural and interpersonal, has a direct, negative effect on the mental and physical health of millions of people in America. This is even more intensified as our nation continues to face the intersecting crises of COVID-19 and racism.

Race Against Racism is an opportunity for us to come together in the spirit of health and solidarity to raise awareness of this crisis and support YWCA’s Racial Justice programs. Together, we can promote health and wellness for all.

Race Against Racism 5K offers:

  • COVID-19 safety precautions
  • YWCA-branded merchandise for all participants
  • Timed finish
  • Supported course
  • Virtual race option: Participate on your own time and on your favorite path! The virtual registration offers the opportunity to participate in the 5K even if you live a distance from Minneapolis or are not yet comfortable being around a crowd of folks.

YWCA Minneapolis strives every day for:

  • Race and gender equity
  • Economic independence for women
  • Respect for diverse cultures
  • Children and youth who thrive
  • A community that is vibrant and healthy

We acknowledge that YWCA facilities and this event take place on Indigenous land. The Dakota, Anishinaabe and Indigenous people from other Native nations lived here for thousands of years before being removed through genocide, ethnic cleansing and forced removal. We wish to pay respects to these communities, both past and present.
