2020 Race Registration Now Open!

Social distancing may keep us physically apart, but we are still triathletes together in spirit. Be a part of the first-ever YWCA Minneapolis Summer Tri Fest! Enjoy all of the fun of the sport without the stress!   

This is your chance to complete a triathlon, duathlon or aquabike race on your schedule and your preferred course. Complete as many distances and race options as you like. Train and complete your personalized race by August 9 and then join us for a virtual celebration of our athletes. The Summer Tri Fest is open to all genders and kids over the age of 10.

Your participation and financial support helps keep our community thriving and strong. Until it’s safe to get back out there with our friends and training buddies, we will be here to cheer you on and support our multisport enthusiasts. Sign up individually or with your friends and family to create your own racing team!

What To Expect

  •  Choose your personalized race: triathlon, duathlon or aquabike. Complete your swim, bike and run wherever it is safe and works for your schedule!  
  • Create a personal page to share your #SummerTriFest journey with your friends and family. 
  • Participate in weekly challenges and compete for points on our leaderboards. 
  • Log your times for each leg of the race on MTEC between July 27 – August 9.
  • Celebrate with us at a virtual gathering on August 9!

Go the Extra Mile

  • Fundraise as you race for YWCA Minneapolis to help advance our mission. 
  • Share photos of your progress on Instagram or Facebook and use #SummerTriFest.
  • Join our Endurance Sports Group on Strava for extra support and encouragement and share your progress. Strava is free to join. No need to sign up for the Summit Membership on the app.

Staying Safe

We recognize not all swimming locations (including private pools and beaches) will be guarded this summer. Please take safety measures if you choose to swim in these locations such as never swimming alone and following all the posted rules, guidelines and local laws. Minneapolis Park and Recreation will start guarding the following beaches starting July 2: Bde Maka Ska Thomas Beach, Cedar Lake East Beach, Lake Harriet North Beach, Lake Nokomis Main Beach and Wirth Lake Beach. Please note that swimmers are allowed in the designated buoy area from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm. Swimming outside of the marked area or time is not allowed. Swimming is done at your own risk and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

We recommend you run and bike solo while maintaining a distance of six feet or more apart from other people. If pathways or roadways are busy, please find another route.

Training

Need some support? Just learning to Tri? We’ve got you covered with our outdoor tri training classes. We’ll be managing the safety of participants with safety precautions.

We’re also offering a virtual Triathlon Talk Series every Monday at 11:00 am starting July 6. An experienced coach will break down each component of a triathlon in a five-part live series. This series is perfect for those new to triathlon and experienced triathletes looking for a refresher!
