Group fitness classes provide opportunities to train your body, learn new skills and engage with members of your community — all at once! These courses cover a wide range of activities and fitness levels, which allow you to choose the best experience for your interests and health goals.

YWCA Minneapolis members have access to over 200 free group fitness classes each week. Our seasoned instructors offer sessions on cycling, group yoga, dance and much more. Best of all, we tailor these courses around different fitness levels to accommodate beginners and experts alike. Whether you are looking for high-intensity workouts or a more mellow experience, you are sure to find something that suits you.

Mind/Body Courses

Elevate your mind, mood and body through lessons focused on yoga, meditation, Pilates and other simple physical movements. These courses can accommodate members across a range of fitness and experience levels.

Water Fitness

Add water resistance to your workouts for a new level of challenge and excitement. These courses employ different types of equipment and techniques to build strength, coordination and endurance.

Dance

Embrace new styles of music and fitness through our dance-based courses. With a wide selection of music genres and dance types to choose from — including Latin, hip-hop and Zumba — we are sure to have something you’ll want to move to.

Cardio

Get your blood moving with cardiovascular exercises focused on building strength, speed and agility. From running and cycling to MAX interval training, these courses encompass a wide range of fun techniques for different fitness levels.

Strength Training

Build muscle, endurance and confidence with intuitive training focused on strength and power. These courses include low- to non-impact aerobics, resistance work, weight training and much more.

Core

Reach a new level of fitness with these simple yet effective core workouts. These group exercise classes focus on developing abdominal, oblique and lower back muscles to help you achieve a better state of mental and physical health.

Stretch

Find new flexibility and fitness with our revitalizing stretch courses. These classes focus on building agility, improving blood circulation, promoting better posture and providing welcome relief from stress.

Adaptive Stretch

This class is paced for those with chronic illness concerns, primarily those with Multiple Sclerosis or other autoimmune diseases, including mobility limitations or the need to work slowly or those engaged in injury rehabilitation. This class is endorsed by the Minnesota MS Society.

Aqua Intervals

Interval training consists of alternating segments of work and rest. This format of training has been proven to burn more calories while strengthening your cardiovascular system. Class consists of 30 minutes of intervals, stretching and core work.

Ballet Barre Plus

Reshape, stretch and strengthen your body while you improve your posture and body awareness. Many of the exercises in this class utilize the ballet barre and are based in ballet technique. For beginners and non-dancers as well as advanced exercisers.

Cardio Dance

Let a wide variety of music inspire your workout. This class is designed to encourage participants to put their own energy level, ability style and moves into the moves in a non-intimidating and fun environment. All fitness levels are welcome

Put the water’s resistance to work! A variety of equipment is used in both the shallow and deep end of the pool. High Intensity Interval Training is a format proven to not only torch calories but also enhance your aerobic capacity without long workouts. Perfect for the busy exerciser, but not for the faint of heart, HIIT requires you to push your limits! Bodyweight exercises and small equipment done in intervals.  HIIT/Chisel focuses on strength training.  HIIT/Core focus on core work. Intensity level 3

Build strength and enhance functional capacity by using dumbbells, bands and body weight. With a focus on correct alignment and proper form for everyday movements, this class will help make daily tasks easier to accomplish. This is a fee-based class and requires a program pass to attend.
