Learn and Grow Scholarship

ywca minnneapolis learn and grow scholarship fund

Imagine a world where every child has an opportunity to thrive.

It’s possible.

You can help more children get access to high-quality early childhood education through YWCA's Learn and Grow Scholarship Fund.

We believe education is the foundation for lifelong success. And the earlier it begins, the better.

YWCA Minneapolis Learn and Grow Scholarship Fund is the essential link that connects a child without access to early learning opportunities to YWCA Minneapolis Early Childhood Education.

Your philanthropic investment can help close the opportunity gap and create widespread change in Minnesota.

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT!

Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Challenge Grant

To encourage the Twin Cities community to invest in the next generation of Minnesotans, and to recognize the quality of YWCA Early Childhood Education programs, the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation has offered generous support in the form of a scholarship challenge grant. If YWCA raises $250,000 for Early Childhood Education, the Schulze Family Foundation will provide an additional $250,000.

Through June 2019, any gift through either option will go toward this challenge.

Giving Options

A named YWCA Minneapolis Learn and Grow Scholarship is presented with your name, a family or group name or in honor of a special individual and provides access to quality early education programming for children and their families.

With your three-year commitment of $4,000 or more per year, a scholarship will be awarded to one or more children as they enter the preschool years at YWCA.

Option 2: Make a Gift to the YWCA Minneapolis Learn and Grow Scholarship Fund

Your gift of any amount can directly help preschoolers and their families.

Creating Opportunities, Overcoming Inequities

YWCA Minneapolis strives to make full-time, high-quality early childhood education accessible for families from all races, ethnicities, cultures and incomes, preparing children for success in school and life.

We work to meet the needs of families living in low-income households, especially families of color and single mothers, who need child care support to maintain employment or pursue educational goals.

Your philanthropic investment can help close the opportunity gap and create widespread change in Minnesota.

Opportunity Gap

The inequitable distribution of educational resources and opportunities.

Achievement Gap

The inequitable educational results and outcomes.

The Impact is Clear

Our work is closing the opportunity gap for children of color.

  • 95% of children, infant through kindergarten, are on track with age-appropriate development
  • 72% of children are children of color
  • 94% of preschoolers meet rigorous early learning standards for school readiness
  • 66% of children are living in low-income households (52% living under the federal poverty line)

Access to high-quality early childhood education is a giant step toward overcoming barriers contributing to inequity in our state.
