Inclement Weather Closure Policy

Downtown, Midtown and Uptown

  • Staff and program participants at YWCA Minneapolis owned facilities – Downtown, Midtown and Uptown – should assume these locations are open for normal business hours unless otherwise notified.
  • Overall, our closure policy is based on whether Metro Transit, the Twin Cities transportation resource, ceases to operate. (It is highly unlikely that service will be suspended entirely. Metro Transit has stopped service only twice in its history, both as a result of record-breaking snowfall.)
  • In the event of a YWCA closure or alternate hours due to inclement weather, an alert/notification will be posted on our website home page; the Downtown, Midtown and Uptown facility notices pages; and on our fitness app
  • If Metro Transit service is significantly affected, updates will be shared here and on Metro Transit's Twitter and Facebook pages. You can sign up to receive Rider Alerts via email or text message.

Early Childhood Education Centers

  • Staff and parents at Early Childhood Education Centers at Downtown, Midtown and Abbott should assume these locations are open for normal business hours unless otherwise notified. (These child care centers will implement any change protocols established for YWCA Downtown, Midtown and Uptown facilities.)
  • Staff and parents at Ecolab follow Ecolab’s policy. Parents can call YWCA Children's Center at Ecolab for any updates: 651-250-3540
  • Staff and parents at Hubbs follow the St. Paul Public Schools and Community Education cold weather policy. Parents can call YWCA Children's Center at Hubbs for any updates: 651-290-4822
