Developing the Next Generation of Philanthropic Leaders
My mentor introduced me to GenYWCA three years ago as an opportunity to develop leadership skills and advance a critical social justice mission in our community. As a corporate banker at Wells Fargo, it’s been one of the best things I could do for my career and personal fulfillment.
My GenYWCA Year-At-A-Glance
I was on the Circle of Women Steering Committee where I had the opportunity to solicit purse donations for a purse auction that raised $40,000 for YWCA Minneapolis programs. Through the steering committee I networked with the YWCA Minneapolis board and other high impact Twin Cities professionals.
I co-coordinated a group of 12 volunteers to host children’s activities at Open Streets East Lake in front of our YWCA Midtown location. It was truly the highlight of my summer and a chance to give back and celebrate the diversity and health of Minneapolis.
I volunteered at the YWCA Women’s Triathlon at a water stop on the run course and cheered on over 1,000 triathletes.
GenYWCA hosted a fabulous event called “Managing Yourself Online for Success” with award-winning LinkedIn Trainer, Anne Pryor.
I built a personal fundraising page to support YWCA Minneapolis on Give to the Max Day. Overall, GenYWCA raised $16,415.
Grow You Network, Give Back
This and more has been so rewarding for me this year. My network is strong and growing, and I continue to find joy giving back to our community. I’m excited to take the lead of GenYWCA as Chair for the next two years. Please reach out anytime at GenYWCA@ywcampls.org if you or someone you know would like to get involved.
