YWCA Fitness Member Story: “Having As Much Fun As Possible”
Rahmo and her family have been members at YWCA Midtown for about nine years. She says it has been a great space to have quality time: the whole family comes to YWCA to work out, relieve stress and have fun. Read on to learn more about how Rahmo and her family enjoy being members at YWCA Minneapolis.
Why did you join YWCA Minneapolis?
We wanted to have more family time by working out and having as much fun as possible at YWCA Midtown.
Which classes and programs do you and your family participate in and why?
They are all very nice, especially the Yoga Somali. I was in a car accident two years ago and my muscles were very tight. The yoga classes have helped a lot! I take those and Zumba classes because they’re great and help relieve stress. My daughters are part of Strong, Fast and Fit and Girls Inc., which makes them feel safe and excited.
How has YWCA helped your family stay healthy?
YWCA makes us feel healthier. I am a single mother. It makes my kids happy and makes me less stressed when I exercise and use the sauna.
What advice do you have for other families who might be interested in joining?
I can say everyone should come to YWCA because they have child care – the kids can swim and the moms can exercise and enjoy themselves. Everyone can bring friends as guests, too. It’s especially enjoyable for teenagers instead of going outside or somewhere else that makes you worry what they’re doing. YWCA is a safe space for them to enjoy themselves.
