Strong Fast Fit

Strong Fast Fit welcomes BIPOC youth ages 10-17 to learn and practice holistic health through play, movement, meals, sports, field trips and relationship building with peers and trusted adults.

The afterschool and summer programming occurs within a group setting: youth from similar backgrounds – ethnic, racial, and/or cultural – gather to celebrate, discover and explore food and wellness within past and present cultural traditions.

Registration

  • Program Dates:

    • Session 1: June 15-July 2

    • Session 2: July 13-30

  • Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 10 am-3 pm

  • Ages: Youth going into 4th-12th grade

To allow as many families as possible to participate, please only sign up for one of the sessions.

What Is Strong Fast Fit?

Strong Fast Fit 8 Dimensions of Summer is a fun and welcoming three-week (Monday-Thursday) summer program based on the eight degrees of wellness.

  • Incoming 4th-12th-grade youth can expect a mix of gym games, cooking, swimming lessons, walking field trips and meeting other youth in their communities.

  • Youth between 9th and 12th grade will gain skills and knowledge in leadership and planning activities for younger participants and assist the counselors.

  • All youth will expand their knowledge about wellness in many forms through activities and adventures at the YWCA and around South Minneapolis.

Youth report making healthy food choices and an improved overall diet

Families increase their use of meal planning and healthy eating

Youth engage in moderate to high level physical activity at least two times per week for 30 minutes
