Tai Chi Workshop
Join us for a brief introduction to the gentle, Yang style of tai chi, or as it's known in Mandarin, taijiquan (pronounced: "tai jee chuan").
The Yang style emphasizes low-impact movements, balance and fluid motion through an upright posture. Originating as a martial art, today it is practiced primarily as a healing and wellness art.
In this workshop, you will start with some gentle warm-ups and a qigong (pronounced: "chee gohng") form, a related healing movement art that also originated in China. Then, we will learn some of the fundamental movements of tai chi, including Grasping the Sparrow's Tail, one of the foundational and best-known movements.
About the Instructor
Andrew has practiced and taught tai chi and qigong for over 10 years. His practice focuses on self-empowerment through healing and strengthening techniques. He was introduced to tai chi and qigong by his teacher, Dr. Xinrong He, who learned from her father, Master Ming He.
Andrew teaches the short form of Yang-style tai chi, consisting of 24 movements, as well as the long form, which is 118 movements, in addition to five different qigong forms. Andrew has personally experienced the benefits of a daily tai chi and qigong practice and is honored to share the wisdom of his teachers with others.
