After You Register

Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds. We are aware that this is a much-desired feature. Due to the economics of hosting a large event, we cannot offer refunds.

We do allow people to purchase insurance from Race Roster’s Enhanced Refund Protection Program.

What if the race is canceled?

We do everything within our power to hold the race in some format. There are various alternatives, ranging from a delayed start to a shortened race. Please view the Race Guide for details. We still cannot issue refunds for a cancelled race.

I can’t race anymore. What are my options?

You have so many options! Is it possible for you to participate in a different format?

  • Transfer to the shorter Super Sprint Distance - Deadline June 30

  • Transfer to a Relay. Grab some friends and do just the leg of the race you can do. - Deadline June 30. If transferring a relay, relay members still need to pay to register.

  • Plan a DNF (Did Not Finish). You can do only part of the race. This makes you ineligible for any awards, but you can still participate and cross the finish line. See the race guide for more details. You can opt into a DNF anytime. It doesn't need to be planned.

You really cannot participate?

  • Transfer your registration to someone else by June 30. They don't have to use the same format you registered for. Complete the transfer, and then they can move to a different distance or group. If you receive someone's registration and make any changes, like from Sprint to Super Sprint, you will need an access code. Please email triathlon@ywcampls.org for the code.

  • Don’t know who to transfer to? Go to our Facebook page and comment on the pinned post at the top, where people connect about transferring.

  • Officially withdraw from the race. We cannot issue refunds, but this allows us to save some labor and environmental waste. You can submit this form anytime. The closer to race day you complete the form, the less impact it will have on saving labor and waste. Complete the withdrawal form.

Can I change __________?

You have many options with your registration. You can transfer to a different sub-event, such as entering or exiting a Buddy Group, creating a Relay, or switching to a different race distance. Read the instructions on Race Roster.

Other options you can change within your registration include:

  • Adding race day packet pick up

  • Your race shirt size

  • Your swim cap or swim start needs

  • Medical info

  • Special accommodations request

All changes are due June 30.

Before You Register

Is there a waitlist?

We do not manage a waitlist. We do allow registrants who can no longer race to transfer their registration with no additional fees. You can go to our Facebook page, where there is a pinned post at the top to help people connect about transferring.

What are the requirements to race?

  • You must have a functional human-powered bike. It cannot be an electric bike. Recumbent or tandem bikes are allowed only as adaptive equipment for those with special needs.

  • You must wear a bike helmet.

  • You need to be able to swim in deep water.

There are many sub-event options. What is the difference between Individual, Champion, Buddy Group, Family Team and Relays?

  • Individual – Consider this the default. This is how most people register, as one person participating and competing individually.

  • Champion – You have the option to pay a premium price to support YWCA Minneapolis' mission and receive a VIP race experience.

  • Family Team – This is a competitive category with two team members. Each person does a full triathlon, and their times are added together to compete against other two-person teams.

  • Relays – This is a competitive category. A relay can be made up of two to three people. One person does each leg of the race. In a two-person team, one person will need to do two legs of the race. Relay teams compete against other relay teams regardless of whether they are two or three people.

  • Buddy Group – This is not a competitive category. People registered in a Buddy Group will still be competing in their age group category. Buddy Groups are assigned to the same area in transition and will be assigned the same start wave. Buddy Groups can be made up of two or more people. There is no size limit.
