Gratitude Ceremony

Gratitude Ceremony

We’ll start announcing age group winners at 11 a.m., then join us at noon as we kick off the Gratitude Ceremony! If any racers are still on the course, we’ll hit pause and cheer them across the finish line—because every finish deserves a celebration.

Our lively race emcee will guide us through about an hour of fun, featuring a mix of recognition awards, race result honors and exciting door prize giveaways.

Door prizes are up for grabs for all racers! We’ll draw numbers at random—just be sure you're there in person to claim your prize!

Community Awards

We need your support for two community awards: the Buddy Spirit award for best group name and the Toni Award for inspiration and advocacy.

Toni Award nominees do not need to be competing this year. All qualified nominees will be recognized at the Gratitude Ceremony on race day, Aug. 10, 2025, and in the post-race newsletter. One nominee will be chosen by race management staff and volunteers and awarded at the Gratitude Ceremony.

We encourage everyone to vote on the Buddy Spirit award, even if you don’t have a nominee for the Toni Award!

The deadline to vote is Aug. 1.

The Toni Award

Toni St. Pierre was a trailblazer and YWCA member. We honor her legacy with this year's Toni Award for inspiration and advocacy. Presented at our Gratitude Ceremony to an individual who has overcome challenges and used the experience to inspire others.

Toni St. Pierre was a trailblazer in running and a staunch supporter of women's athletics. In 1972, she convinced the ACLU to sue the state to allow her to compete against boys prior to Title IX.

The ruling gained national attention, helped make a national case for greater equity in athletic opportunities for girls, and came a few months ahead of the Title IX federal legislation.

Toni was a member of Midtown YWCA since the facility opened in 2000. At the age of 54, she competed in the inaugural Women's Triathlon in 2008. It was her first triathlon and over time she was frequently a top competitor in her age bracket.

Toni inspired generations of female athletes. We are proud to honor her legacy through the Toni Award for inspiration and advocacy at the annual YWCA Women’s Triathlon.
