YWCA Minneapolis is partnering with One Good Deed to combine the organization’s annual Children’s Centers winter clothing drive with One Good Deed’s Scarf Bombing campaign. Together, they aim to collect clothing and cold-weather gear for community members in need this winter from Nov. 1–Dec. 15. 

Food, music and community spirit will fill the heart of Minneapolis on Saturday, October 11, at YWCA Minneapolis Midtown Strong. All are welcome to gather in the YWCA Midtown parking lot from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to enjoy food trucks, family-friendly activities and live music. YWCA Minneapolis will also be celebrating 25 years as a cornerstone of the community.  

YWCA Minneapolis is pleased to welcome Linda Domholt as its new Chief Development Officer. Domholt is passionate about building partnerships that fuel lasting change. With over 20 years of experience, she brings a strategic, relationship-driven approach to fundraising—grounded in data, empathy and a deep respect for community voice.

The 2025 YWCA Minneapolis Women’s Triathlon brought together 1,074 individual participants and 13 relay teams at Lake Nokomis, celebrating the power and diversity of women and those who identify with womanhood. Athletes ranged in age from 11 to 83, reflecting the event’s inclusive spirit. 

YWCA Minneapolis will welcome 1,400 athletes to Lake Nokomis on Sunday, Aug. 10, for the annual YWCA Minneapolis Women’s Triathlon. The race promotes inclusion, uplifts those who identify with womanhood and supports YWCA Minneapolis’ mission to eliminate racism and empower women and girls.  

Drowning is swift, silent and most importantly—preventable. On World Drowning Awareness Day (July 25), YWCA Minneapolis is raising awareness about the importance of water safety and swimming education, especially in communities that face the greatest barriers to access. 

YWCA Minneapolis is proud to announce Heid E. Erdrich as the 2025 recipient of the Camille J. Gage Fellowship. The fellowship recognizes Minnesota-based artists whose creative work is rooted in community impact and activism. 

YWCA Minneapolis announces its incoming slate of board members. The cohort will serve on the Board of Directors of YWCA Minneapolis through June 2028. Members may choose to serve a second consecutive three-year term.

YWCA Minneapolis announces the organization's annual leadership awards recipients: Chanda Smith Baker was named the Woman of Power and Gayle Fuguitt received the Kate Berman Leadership Award.   

As we mark five years since the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, we pause to honor his life, grieve the deep injustice of his death and recommit ourselves to the fight for racial justice.

YWCA Minneapolis is proud to announce that three participants from its Eureka! program,  Alecia, Michelle and Maitreya, have been awarded the prestigious Girls Inc. National Scholarship. This highly competitive honor recognizes young women who embody the Girls Inc. values of being strong, smart and bold.  

We are in a time of great upheaval. Action was taken at the federal level to try to freeze funding for organizations like ours that dare to have a mission like we do. Efforts to roll back diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives threaten the progress we’ve fought for, while policies targeting immigrant communities undermine the very fabric of opportunity and justice.

YWCA Minneapolis held its 15th annual YWCA Minneapolis Women’s Triathlon at Lake Nokomis on Aug. 11. With over 1,200 athletes registered for the race and 940 competing, it stands as one of the largest triathlons of its kind in the contiguous United States.
